Margaret T. Hance Park [Phoenix, AZ] : The Margaret T. Hance Park is located on top of a one-half-mile long structural deck covering a recessed segment of the I-10 Inner Loop Freeway in Phoenix. This public park has effectively reconnected existing residential neighborhoods and commercial zones bisected by the freeway construction, and stimulated redevelopment in central Phoenix. The park reflects three distinct zones: the Neighborhood Park, the Urban Plaza, and the Cultural Park. Each zone is designed to complement the existing development at its edges, and support a range of community uses including casual use/gatherings, informal athletics, farmers market, art fairs, and larger festivals.

Rick Howell provided master planning and site design services for this project while working with HNTB.
