14909 Farmstead : PLAID served as a site design consultant for this 100-acre farmstead residential project in eastern Jackson County, MO. The project consists of a new brine pool with infinity edge, hot tub, bath house, patio space, and sculpture. Through extensive research, PLAID discovered the storied history of the house and site by learning about the past residents of the property. The spirit of the previous inhabitants, and a sleek nod to the farmhouse vernacular, were integrated into the overall design proposal. The site concept infuses modern elements while embracing the character of the historic farmstead. A long, linear pergola establishes an axial layout of site elements. The style of the bath house emulates the existing architectural aesthetic of the farmstead. The brine pool is tucked into the landscape with the infinity edge positioned to capture the amazing vista to the west.
